an elegant man with a large collection of books from around the world, restored and rebound by its own hands. it is very reluctant to lend the books out, but willing to share the knowledge so long as the books stay inside its house. the main problem there is that said house is deep, deep in a supposedly haunted forest. many people have tried to find it, but most come back scared and shaken from the eerie woods... which is usually just the bookbinder itself following them around, dragging a stick on the ground to scare them away. it's fun, it's a good hobby!
it has a scar - often covered but occasionally not - on its neck that would suggest its head has been removed and reattached. it will not answer questions about this. additionally, it almost lost its entire library once in an accident... or so it would tell you. it was more of an attack on its home, an accident on no one's part, but it's in the past now.
recently, it found someone collapsed and on the verge of death near its home, so deep in that forest... someone with no memories or name, no belongings... so the bookbinder nursed them back to health, against their usual way of acting, and entrusted them with a mission: find the beast that did this to you, and take it down.
