chantilly morrow

you know those friendly old women you meet at the grocery store, almost always in the cereal aisle, just chomping at the bit to give you some recommendations? chantilly is one such woman, loving and warm, a little clueless but always happy to learn. she's fiercely defensive of her family, though thankfully the need never arises for her to act on it.

when she was younger, she traveled the northern part of teres with her partner, eventually getting caught in a terrible sudden storm... she lost her partner that day, something that still bothers her even now, naturally. she found her way to the village of snowdell and begged the people she could find to help her search. not a trace could be found, mysteriously... and what chantilly didn't know at the time was that she was pregnant, as well. the community leaders in snowdell convinced her to stay in town, that way she'd be nearby if her partner was found safely, but also... it just wouldn't do to send a pregnant woman off wandering on her own in the snow, right?

that was a good 40-something years ago though, and while chantilly never got the closure she truly wanted, she's got a family that loves her and a community that welcomes her. it's not a perfect life by any means, but she's happy with what she has.

i. personality

• dependable - she's one of the most reliable people you'd ever meet! you can always count on chantilly!
• upbeat - she's always got energy enough for whatever she has to do, and a good attitude on top of it
• protective - after the loss of her partner, she can get a little overly attached to her loved ones
• goofy - she loves making people smile, so she's often making jokes and doing silly little gags, especially around children
• meticulous - due to her fear of losing more people, she can definitely get carried away making sure people are prepared for anything they might need to do, even if it's a small task

ii. design notes

• she is fat!
• she has a faint, jagged scar on her right (your left when viewing her) side of her face, running from near her mouth to where her ear would be, if she had human ears
• her hair is wavy with a naturally green underside, and she likes to wear it in various hairstyles
• she usually wears long skirts and thick sweaters
• she doesn't have a lot of wrinkles, but very clear smile lines especially around her eyes

iv. trivia

• she's really good at swimming
• she has ptsd
• she often goes and stands at the edge of town, facing the direction she came from, futilely watching for her partner to come home... maybe, maybe one day...
• her house is full of plants, all very hardy ones that can survive the northern teres temperatures; that being said, her house is pretty warm, so she can keep some non-native plants too
• she's really good at singing, especially rock songs
