jack

when asked about herself, jack often says that she's an agent of chaos, the oracle of blood and pain, darkness incarnate... things like that. but really, she's a curious and well-mannered kid who just likes cool and edgy things. she tends to come across as kind of rude and dismissive because of how she talks, but it's just a front for the fact she's a little shy. she really likes playing sports and being active, claiming that "a good king of the deep won't rely on others to get the dirty work done," though no one quite understands what that has to do with playing things like baseball.

jack's hometown of oats is rather small, a village where everyone knows everyone and with very little in the way of exciting happenings. so of course, when jack caught wind that her classmate tablespoon had found a living curse on the outskirts of the village, she immediately started trying to tail the poor girl. jack didn't understand the depth of what a curse really means, only having heard of the concept through comics and movies... tablespoon's no slouch though, so she noticed jack trailing her almost right away. she tried to drive the girl away, but it seems the fates of the two are intertwined, king of the murky dark and queen of the curse-destroying light...! or something.

i. personality

• shy - she doesn't seem like it at all, on first meeting, given all her talk about being the king of the blood ocean, but that's really just a defense mechanism for how nervous she really is
• creative - despite her outwardly apparent interests, she mostly creates works that have a very serene and peaceful feeling to them... she's really coming along in her paintings especially
• snappy - another defense mechanism for her anxiety is the way she responds to people in a very sharp and pointed manner no matter what's been said to her; she hates this though, often barking out a quip before her reflexes can cool down
• curious - she tries to pretend she's above gossip, but it's really interesting to her... maybe she can use something like that in a future story...
• straightforward - once you've cracked her codes, that is; picking up on what certain words mean to her is key to understanding how she socializes

ii. design notes

• her hair covering her eye is purely stylistic; she usually pins it to the side if she has to pay attention to something
• she likes wearing red, reddish-pink, and monochrome colours with a style that's somewhere between gothic lolita and hot topic emo
• she usually wears a compression glove on her left hand, but she doesn't like it so it's usually covered with a sleeve
• she is thin but not wiry
• she has very light and thin eyebrows

iv. trivia

• she's a bit of a chuunibyou... she's also autistic with social anxiety
• she has a lot of food allergies, to the point where she often feels like there's more food she can't eat than what she can, but she's learning a lot of really neat recipes these days
• she does keep a little list of what certain phrases mean to the commoners of teres, such as what the blood curse is (anemia) or who the darkest lord of all might be (her grandmother) (who is nice, by the way, but thinks it's a funny thing to be called)
• speaking of which, she was raised by her grandmothers; her parents were seperated and her father passed away at a young age
• she has a small beehive that she takes care of, one that she calls her kingdom of thorns and ruin
