kuroko

a former stagehand who worked for a certain theater troupe, one which is a cover for a group of assassins. they didn't care for much outside of either job, but treated both occupations with the same amount of passion and vigor - which is to say, quite a lot. they put their all into working behind the scenes, showing a true skill at keeping things running from the shadows...

any time they show their face to the audience (the literal or the victims), the boss got quite harsh. you're supposed to be backstage, they yelled. you're not supposed to be out here, they shouted. did i never teach you properly before, they questioned, gripping their fan tightly. kuroko at that point got to choose, stay here and learn again, or run away before the boss catches you, letting them both have some time to cool off. after the cooldown period ended, the boss would treat kuroko with overwhelming kindness, never an apology, but always with sickeningly sweet affection. the back and forth of it all kept kuroko in a strange mental state, one where they valued their work more than their emotions, their feelings, their safety... but oh, to be valued at all, kuroko thought!

kuroko always chose to run and hide, but one time wondered, "what if... i just keep running?" and has not been seen by their troupe since.

currently they're wandering the more central-south part of teres, far from "home" and where no one would think to look for them. they're not sure if they're enjoying this new life, never having had the room to explore their emotions and put names to them until recently... but despite all the times they miss their boss, the times that they're relieved to be away far outnumber them.

i. personality

• cheerful - they have a sunny disposition, and always have since youth; it's dampened down a bit after their recent experiences, but it's hard to put out that natural optimism of theirs
• theatrical - never being in the forefront doesn't mean they weren't an actor in their own right, and when off the clock they loved to memorize other peoples' roles and act them out for fun
• skittish - they get quite nervous if people raise their voice around them these days...
• observant - it's in the job description for both roles, really -- after all, you need that extra level of awareness in order to stay hidden at all times, don't you?
• respectful - despite their at-times boisterous demeanor, they always did their best to never step on anyones' toes or speak out of line (whether this was respect or fear though, it's not out place to say)

ii. design notes

• their skin is pure white, with many scars hidden under their hair and clothes
• they're quite skinny and lanky, but short in height
• their hair is almost always done up in twin buns with bags covering their face, reminiscent of a kuroko's hat
• they usually wear dark colours like black and dark red, but after escaping have taken to trying out different colours like yellow or pink
• their face is a bit of a sore spot for them, emotionally, so they try to hide it with their hair as much as they can; their irises are pure black, and so is the inside of their mouth (which they have prominent canine fangs in, also!)

iv. trivia

• they don't talk about themself much, if at all; a lingering effect from their old life
• they often bounce or stand on one leg
• their theater troupe did all kinds of acting, from kabuki and noh, to opera and musicals, and more experimental un-nameable types too
• they like party noisemakers
• they have cptsd and autism
