lacus

a stoic and blunt girl who was assigned to leave mount carbunculus, not by way of exile, but to learn about the world outside and bring back info. she's unfriendly, harsh, and sometimes rude, but she really just doesn't have much of a framework in place for socializing. someone lent her a romance novel once as "research material," and now she's got a bit of a fascination with them.

at the beginning, she was a little lost on how to conduct her research. "the outside world" is a pretty broad and daunting topic to write reports on, after all... and even saying "just start with what's around you" can lead to you realizing just how much is directly nearby. what she settled on though is working very well for her - just go up to the first person you see, and ask "what are you doing there?" or "what's that thing?" or anything like that. just a simple question works, even if it's blunt!
(it helps too that since many people are unfamiliar with carbuncles, they think she's just a curious child, so they're happy to help... not that she's noticed this...)

i. personality

• haughty - though she's realized that she needs to be polite in order to get anything involving other people done... it doesn't mean she's very nice about it...
• smart - carbuncles are naturally incredibly smart, but lacus goes above and beyond
• easily flustered - that being said though, her lack of experience with talking to others about anything other than work has rendered her very quick to embarrass
• hesitant - as time goes on, she is less so - but near the beginning of her journey, it's nearly impossible for her to lend a hand or try anything new
• observant - she's gotta take it all in and think it over, after all

ii. design notes

• she has a little tail, but her clothes usually cover it
• she has long hair, a little past her shoulders, but she usually braids it up and puts it inside her hat
• she has digitigrade legs and paw-like hands and feet
• her eyes and horn are the same colour, and reflect light the same way
• she's almost always pouting or frowning

iv. trivia

• she is a little on the short side for carbuncles
• since carbuncles are a completely genderless society, she only learned about "Girls" after setting out into the world; when she realized there was a word for how she felt, it was invigorating!
• she prefers cold weather, but doesn't have very thick fur, so she still needs to bundle up
• she has a really good memory, so she takes notes during her travels and writes full reports when she goes back to mount carbunculus every few months; saves space in her bag that way!
• carbuncles don't technically need to eat, but she considers it a valuable part of her research... that's definitely it... that's the only reason she always eats a fresh, hot breakfast every day, for surea...
