matthias floros

a single father working as a humble ceramist on the outskirts of town. he's very carefree and relaxed, often sleeping late into the day and working later into the night. his pieces are widely sought after for how practical but aesthetically pleasing they are, but he doesn't really care about that. if it's fun to make and looks nice in the end, that's what matters most.

him and his former partner split up after a heated argument and a realization that the partner had been mistreating matthias and his daughter both. so they ran, taking all the money they could grab and leaving behind a report with the city knights as to what had happened. matthias and his daughter are in a much better place now, but there are some nights where either of them might have trouble sleeping. on those nights, they take turns singing their favourite songs to each other late into the eve.

i. personality

• artistic - his designs are simple but have a great and practical beauty to them, especially with each one being different and often made up on the fly with no prior planning
• defensive - he has a hard time with criticism, often assuming that even well-meaning critiques will soon turn to sour personal attacks
• closed off - why open up to others? after all, see how that turned out in the past?
• kind - he does come across as a little brash and, well, closed off, but he's quite a warm-hearted person in truth; he especially wants to do what he can to help children grow up safe and well
• sneaky - he had to learn to move carefully and with no trace left behind due to his old partner, but nowadays he mostly uses this as less of a survival tactic and more to sneak snacks into peoples' pockets or bags when they aren't looking

ii. design notes

• he is kind of rectangular in build, with thick arms and legs, and large breasts; he also has a lot of body hair that he doesn't shave
• his eyes are two different tones of teal - his right eye is pale, and left is a dark-mid tone (sides appear opposite to you, the viewer)
• his hair is thick and fluffy, and he generally keeps it braided and tied up, though sometimes he just leaves it down if he's not working that day
• he mostly wears loose, shapeless clothes that are easy to move around in
• his ears are pierced; usually he likes to wear long dangly earrings that he made himself

• ceramics of any kind, but particularily tableware

iv. trivia

• he can do math in his head very fast
• he has autism and ptsd
• he's a world-class ceramist, but doesn't tell people that if he can help it; doesn't like the attention it brings
• he has trouble tying shoes
• he's good at singing but he only does it around arna or at karaoke
