i. history
the manifestation of a strong desire, a burst of emotion, a will, a way. they have always existed, and always will.
ii. culture
- family structure: not applicable.
- languages commonly spoken: like elementals, imago just speak and are heard by whoever listens. however, in the case of imago, it often takes a bit of effort to understand what they're really saying. some imago who are more stable and communicative will pick up on mortal languages and learn what they can. imago rarely have names of their own, though in the event that they are named, it is often that they were given names by those around them.
- art: aa
- sexuality and gender: it'd be easy to say "not applicable," but the truth is that some people only truly find themselves in undeath. while teres is completely free of prejudice towards any form of gender, sexuality, or lack thereof, sometimes people do get stuck on their own internal hangups and can't find satisfaction in their identity. it's not unheard of for an imago to be born from a wish to change oneself beyond what was possible in life, and thusly have an entirely different form, with a different identity in tow.
- values: desire fulfillment.
- religion: case-by-case basis.
- traditions: not applicable.
- death rites: not applicable.
iii. biology
- notable characteristics: the most notable characteristic of imago is that they do not fit the commonly-known set of traits of any other race; they always look somewhat otherworldly in one way or another. because imago are born of wishes, they are often completely ruled by it. their physical form and mind itself are formed to efficiently carry out their goal, what ever it may be. say, for example, an imago born to eat something delicious would only think of eating something delicious, and would probably just be a large disembodied mouth.
- diet: imago do not need to eat, and unless they were born with a food-related purpose in mind, they generally don't care about it either way.
- preferred climate: not applicable.
- sex: case-by-case basis.
- reproduction: generally, they are born of death. the specifics are unknown, and nearly impossible to study as it would require being there at the very moment of passing, and only if the circumstances are exactly right. an imago requires physical mass, a large expulsion of magic, and a desire so strong that it feels like it's consuming you, devouring you, and yet seperating, bursting from your chest, screaming, clawing—
iv. trivia
- it's not impossible for an imago to be more on the sentient, humanoid end of the spectrum, but it is exceedingly rare and they often require a caretaker to help them in daily life. in the event of an imago being merged with a physical body in some way or another, these struggles are notably lessened, but there is no known guaranteed technique for binding an imago and a vessel.
